Guests and clients of homeless shelters and transitional housing agencies in the City of Boston are eligible for a subsidized membership of $5 per year. Call the Boston Transportation Department at: 617-635-1457**, or talk with your caseworker for more information.
*Applies only to residents outside of Boston, where free lunches are provided to all BPS students.

When you sign up, you’ll have the option of having your Bluebikes key mailed to you or you can pick it up from any key dispensing station (see System Map). Waiting for your key to arrive? You can unlock a bike without a key by using the Bluebikes app or by using your credit or debit card to get a ride code.
Never leave a bike unattended. Lock your bike at any station when you’re done. The first 60 minutes of each ride are included in your membership price: after 60 minutes, there is an additional $2 fee for each 30 minutes the bike is out. A ride begins when a bike is unlocked and ends when the bike is securely returned to a dock at any Bluebikes station.
When you start riding with Bluebikes, you can become a Bike Angel and start earning Bike Angel Points. Bike Angels are Bluebikes riders who improve the availability of bikes and docks for fellow riders and earn rewards along the way. Rack up the points by cycling from a full station to an empty station.
