#WhereToRide in July

Take Hubway to celebrate an entire month of Independence Day fun! Need a nudge to get you out the door and onto a bike? Here are a few suggestions on #WhereToRide in July, and every one is near a Hubway station or otherwise accessible/ride-able on Hubway.

Sat, 7/9, 12-6pm JP Porchfest

500+ musicians at over 80 venues (aka porches) throughout Jamaica Plain. Hubway will be your quickest way to get from one performance to the next! More details →

Fri, 7/1, through Mon, 7/4 Boston Harborfest
Various locations, all near Hubway stations. A 35-year-old tradition celebrating Boston’s harbor and history. With hundreds of activities over a 4-day period at Boston’s best landmarks, this family-friendly event is the country’s largest Fourth of July festival.

Wednesdays, 6pm Brookline Free Summer Concert Series
Emerson Garden, Davis Ave, Brookline. Picnic, cool off in the splash pad, and dance to classic rock, pop, folk, children’s music, bluegrass, and an excellent Beatles tribute band at this popular annual series. Please note: the final concert will be held at Waldstein Park.

Wed, 7/6, 7-9pm Brookline Bicycle Advisory Committee
Edward Devotion School Library, 345 Harvard Street, Brookline. Encourages, plans for, and advises about bicycling in the Town of Brookline, working with the Transportation Board. Members of the public are welcome.

Thursdays, 1:30-6:30pm Brookline Farmers’ Market
Coolidge Corner, Centre Street West Parking Lot. Market day is back! Fresh, healthy, local food, rain or shine, every Thursday afternoon through mid-November!

Sundays (but not 7/3), 3:30-6pm Sunday Parkland Games
North Point Park, Cambridge, through July. Herter Park, Soldiers Field Road, Brighton, in August/September. Paddle ball, parachute, corn hole, frisbee, hula hoops, ladderball, yoga, and potato sacks sized for all ages! Come find out what an “agility cube” is.

Tue, 7/12, 5:30-8:30pm Taste of Cambridge (guaranteed Hubway docks)
University Park & Sidney Street, Central Square. Delicious, creative, healthy, and award-winning cuisine from over 100 local restaurants and speciality butcher, cheese, honey, wine, beer, specialty drinks and coffee purveyors, from one of the most widely recognized restaurant destinations in the area. Hubway Valets will be on hand to help dock your ride. Your ticket guarantees a dock will be waiting for you that evening at Hubway’s University Park station.

Wed, 7/13, 6:30pm Berklee Presents: Swingin’ in the Fens
Ramler Park, 130 Peterborough Street. The sound of jazz will fill the Fenway area with the Lisa Thorson Quintet. Use the Hubway basket to bring along your picnic blanket.

Thu, 7/14, 6pm Berklee Presents: Summer Concerts at Charlestown Navy Yard
Right by the USS Constitution. Thursday nights through July. This week features TASH, an up & coming songwriter with an old soul.

Fri, 7/15, Noon Berklee Presents: Summer Concerts at Sam Adams Park
Faneuil Hall at the Sam Adams Statue. Grab lunch outside with Honeysuckle, a progressive folk trio that blends older influences and traditional instrumentation with modern effects and inspiration.

Fri, 7/15, & Sat, 7/16 Somerville ArtBeat
Davis Square, Somerville. One of the area’s largest & most innovative arts festivals. This year’s theme is “Roots,” a celebration of things that tie people & place together. Friday night = music & interactive performances. Saturday = the streets of Davis are closed for 75 craft vendors, all-ages activities, and over a dozen bands & dance troupes.

Sat, 7/16, 6pm Fan Pier Music on the Green
Free music Saturdays through August on Fan Pier, the crown jewel of Boston Harbor. Tonight it’s Costa Rican musician, Orlando Retana.
