Where to ride: Halloween Edition!

Halloween is quickly approaching! Grab your best costume and a Hubway and bike over to these spooky, fun, and free events happening around Metro-Boston.

Bring the entire family to the Annual Fall Pumpkin Float at the Boston Common Frog Pond on Friday, October 20th from 5pm-8pm.Hundreds of illuminated jack-o’-lanterns will float on the water and FREE festive family activities will be offered.

Attendees are asked to bring 8-inch or smaller carved pumpkins that will be lit and then floated on the Frog Pond for a picturesque early evening display. In addition, attendees are invited to judge creatively carved and decorated jack-o’-lanterns from various local organizations. Children will be able to decorate luminary bags which will be displayed and illuminated along the edge of the Frog Pond.This FREE family-friendly event will also include a magician, music, mazes, and child-focused activites. Halloween costumes are encouraged!

Halloween Parade:

Come out on Saturday, October 28, 2017 in the West End for our annual Halloween Pet Parade and Costume Contest! Dress up your pet and parade around Faneuil Hall Marketplace then walk the red carpet in front of a panel of judges! Prizes are awarded for Top 3 Best of Show, Best Owner & Pet Combo, Best Local Representation and Most Creative. Registration for the costume contest is required ahead of time. The parade starts promptly at 12:00 pm and continues right into the costume contest.

Participating merchants include MIJA Cantina & Tequila Bar, The Black Dog and Anthem Kitchen + Bar. Wellness Pet Food will give out free samples of their nutritious and healthy food to participants while supplies last.

Children of all ages will love the Magical Halloween Castle and Celebration at Fort Independence on Castle Island on October 28th and 29th.

Look for storytelling, magicians, refreshments, and more at the star-shaped fort ... supposedly the inspiration for "The Cask of Amontillado," Edgar Allan Poe's famous chill-filled short story.

The Castle Island events take place between 12 noon and 4pm on both days, weather permitting. Children MUST be accompanied by an adult. Free admission.
