Bluebikes title sponsor Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts is releasing 100 rainbow-wrapped Proud bikes across the entire Bluebikes system in June in honor of Pride Month and in support of the LGBTQ+ community. Here’s what you need to know to show your support.
In celebration of Pride Month this June, Bluebikes title sponsor Blue Cross is rolling out 100 distinctive Blue Cross Proud bikes. These unique, rainbow-wrapped bikes will be integrated throughout the month across the Bluebikes system’s 11 municipalities: Arlington, Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Newton, Revere, Salem, Somerville and Watertown.
As part of the month-long initiative, Blue Cross will donate $1 for every ride taken on a Pride-themed bike to Fenway Health in Boston. Fenway Health works to enhance the well-being of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and beyond through access to the highest quality health care, education, research and advocacy.
This marks the third time that Blue Cross has used Pride-themed bikes to support Fenway Health, maintaining its commitment to the LGBTQ+ community. In 2019 and 2021, the state’s largest health plan also donated $1 for every ride on a pride-themed bike, in collaboration with Bluebikes, to Fenway Health.
