We're partnering with the Museum of Science to guarantee dock availability on July 4th, 4-11pm, enabling access to fireworks viewing areas on both the Boston and Cambridge sides of the Charles River.
With more than 25,000 trips expected between June 30-July 4, this holiday weekend is anticipated to be one of Hubway’s busiest stretches of the year. To further accommodate riders in the days leading up to July 4th, Ambassadors will be on-site at Hubway stations at the following locations and times:

During these times, the on-site Ambassadors will help with docking and undocking bikes, purchasing passes, and other general customer support issues, though bikes and docks will be available on a first-come, first serve basis, and are not guaranteed. It is strongly recommended that riders plan trips in advance by visiting thehubway.com/stations or downloading a free app to view real-time Hubway station information.
On July 4th itself, in partnership with the Museum of Science, Hubway will be providing guaranteed docks from 4-11pm at the station adjacent to the Museum entrance. Though the Museum closes at 5pm on July 4th, riders will have all-evening access to the Museum entrance plaza and the station, where a Hubway Valet attendant will ensure that riders may complete their trips by docking their bikes, similar to typical Hubway Valet service offered weekday mornings at the MIT Stata Center (Cambridge) station and evenings at the TD Garden (Boston) station adjacent to North Station. The attendant will remain at the station to assist riders following the fireworks until 11:30pm, though bikes will still be available only on a first-come, first serve basis. The Museum of Science Hubway station is a Cambridge-owned station, and is one of 13 stations donated or sponsored by the Barr Foundation.
“Opening a Hubway station has made the Museum more accessible to visitors, staff, and the community, and has been a wonderful opportunity for the Museum to showcase its relationship with scientific innovation, technology, and sustainability,” says Jonathan Burke, the Museum’s Senior Vice President of Visitor Experience and Operations. “Supporting increased access, particularly for events like Boston’s July 4th celebration, is a natural extension of our mission to promote an active citizenship who is engaged with how technology shapes and reshapes our lives and world.”
All stations, including the Beacon St at Arlington St station at the base of the Fiedler Footbridge, are expected to be open and accessible throughout the entire week. Again, bikes and docks are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and it is recommended that riders visit thehubway.com/stations or download a free app to view real-time Hubway station information.
