Monday, April 22nd is Earth Day. There are many ways to get involved, including outdoor cleanups, recycling initiatives, sustainability workshops, and more. We’re here to help you get there!
Where: Dane Park, Brookline
Join fellow community members in the spring Earth Day cleanup of Dane Park. This is an event for the whole family and all ages are welcome. Cleanup tools, work gloves, and basic supplies will be provided to all volunteers. It’s recommended to bring long sleeves and pants, and wear appropriate footwear that is comfortable for working in off-trail forests and hills.
Where: Harvard Square, 63 Church Street, Cambridge
“Plogging” is the mash-up of jogging and the Swedish “plocka upp”, or “pick up”. Join fellow community members in helping to clean up trash and debris from the streets of Harvard Square, in celebration of Earth Day. There will be a light breakfast served to all volunteers who participate.

Join the Boston Public Market in celebrating Earth Day by hosting the second annual Agricultural Festival. There will be pop-up booths from local vendors, agricultural demonstrations, and more. The event is free and open to all.
Where: Charles River, Boston
This annual cleanup effort brings together over 3,000 volunteers to pick up litter, remove invasive species and assist with park maintenance. Join in with thousands of other community members and take part in this annual cleanup. Registration for the event is open and you can follow the action with hashtag #CharlesRiverCleanup.

Take part in Somerville’s annual community celebration of sustainability and climate action. From climate change basics to learning more about reducing your carbon footprint, SustainaVille is all about collaborating with others to brainstorm ways to make Somerville more climate resistant.
When: Sunday, April 28th | 2:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Where: Jerry’s Pond, Cambridge
Cambridge community members come together every year to clean up Jerry’s Pond off of Rindge Avenue. Every day, this pond is passed-by by thousands of commuters by bike, foot, and the nearby T. Volunteers work together to clean up the perimeter of the pond as we head into spring.

Celebrate spring and help Somerville grow. During the Arbor Day & Gardening Festival, you’ll learn everything you need to know about gardening in raised beds with Green City Growers, plant trees and learn more about urban tree care, and much more!

Where: Aeronaut Brewing Company, Somerville
The Bike Talk Social Hour is a monthly event held at Aeronaut and put on by The Somerville Bicycle Committee. This Bike Talk will focus on cycling and will be an open forum to discuss how biking has progressed in Somerville, and where it is headed.

Take a tour of the largest clean-energy incubator in the United States, located in the Greentown Labs. The tour consists of an introductory presentation of the Greentown staff and a high-level overview of the work being done in the lab. Lucky guests will be able to then tour around the 40,00 square foot facility.

The Somerville Spring Clean Up is an annual event that brings together hundreds of volunteers to clean up debris from parks and plant new flowers and trees.
