Thanks to Bluebikes title sponsor Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, 100 rainbow-wrapped Blue Cross Proud bikes will be released across the Bluebikes system in June in celebration of LGBTQ+ pride. Here’s what you need to know if you want to show your support with us
In celebration of Pride Month this June, Bluebikes title sponsor Blue Cross is unveiling 100 new Blue Cross Proud bikes. These rainbow-wrapped bikes will be integrated throughout the month of June across the Bluebikes system’s 10 municipalities: Arlington, Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Newton, Revere, Somerville, and Watertown.
During this month-long initiative, for every ride taken on a rainbow-wrapped Proud bike, Blue Cross will donate $1 to Fenway Health, an organization that enhances the wellbeing of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and beyond through access to the highest quality health care, education, research and advocacy.
Although Pride celebrations look quite different this year, this isn’t the first time that Blue Cross has rolled out pride-themed bikes to support Fenway Health and show its commitment to the LGBTQ+ community. In 2019, the state’s largest health plan donated $1 for every ride on a pride-themed bike to Fenway Health.
