Spring is here. Warmer temperatures and the end to winter is in sight. Even better? Some of your favorite Bluebikes stations will be returning to the streets of Metro Boston. Starting Friday, March 22nd, stations will be redeployed from hibernation.

Due to a forecast of inclement weather, Bluebikes will temporarily close at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, January 19th, in consideration of the safety of our riders and staff. Following the storm, Bluebikes field staff will be working to clear stations, after which stations in Brookline, Boston, Cambridge and Somerville will reopen.

While most of Commonwealth Avenue has been closed to motor vehicle traffic between Kenmore Square and Packard's Corner from July 26 to August 16, Hubway is your solution to get you where you need to go (and beat the crowds while doing it).

The Hubway system was temporarily shut down at 3 PM on Sunday. Regular system operations will resume at 8 PM after Hubway field staff has cleared snow from all station docks and bikes. This means that Cambridge stations, which operate year-round, will again be available for use. Stations in Boston, Brookline, and Somerville are expected to reopen later in the season. For real-time station, bike, and dock availability, visit our station map. Unlike in previous years, stations will remain in operation until the day of their removal to provide for additional riding. All hibernating stations are expected to relaunch in spring 2017, and all Cambridge-based stations are open year-round.

The 2016-2017 winter season will be the most expansive winter operations Hubway has ever had, which means more stations and bikes will be available than any winter before. Over 145 stations will remain in operation through at least December 31, with all the stations in Cambridge continuing to operate year-round.

Two stations in the Charles street area will be removed for the winter on 11/22: Charles Circle and Charles St at Beacon St (See Map) Additionally, two stations will be moved off street: Cambridge St at Joy St station, and Boylston at Arlignton St station. There will be temporary disruption at these stations on 11/22 (See Map) Thank you for your patience during Hubway's transition to winter operations!

Hubway’s 163rd station, Washington St at Melnea Cass Blvd, deployed earlier today. This is a 15-dock station located on the southwest corner of the intersection of Washington and Melnea Cass, adjacent to the Tropical Foods / El Platanero market, in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston. As one of the new stations in the Hubway system, this location also has key-dispensing capabilities for new members.

With our new Card-as-Key functionality, you can use the credit or debit card associated with your membership to check out a bike at any station. Simply go to any Hubway kiosk and insert the credit card associated with your account to get a one-time-use ride code.
