Bluebikes 2019 in Review

System benchmarks, stats, and more!

You thought that 2018 was a big year for Bluebikes? 2019 was even better! The City of Everett joined the Bluebikes network adding 11 new stations and marking the first time a new municipality has joined the system since 2012.

Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, and Somerville continued to expand the system as well — adding a total of 62 stations during the second year of a major expansion. Check out some of the impressive system stats from 2019.

    • Brookline: Marion St at Harvard St

    • Cambridge: 75 Binney Street

    • Everett: Broadway at Lynde St

  • Most ridden bike: bike #45507, 1462 trips

  • Most ridden Unicorn Bike: Roxbury bike, 659 trips

Number of miles ridden: 5.8 million

A year of pedal power

While the system continued to grow, Bluebikes riders took more trips than ever before. Together, we broke several overall ride records — including the records for daily, monthly, and overall annual trips.

  • Busiest week: September 16 - 22, 91,137 trips

  • Daily trip records broken: 7

  • Most number of rides completed in a day: 14,222 trips on September 20

  • Monthly ride record: 363,304 trips, September

Total number of trips taken in 2019: 2,520,418
