Castle Island

Host to many fortifications since the English settlement of Massachusetts, the current granite Fort Independence was built in the mid-1800s. Castle Island is open year-round and has many amenities, such as a playground and beach access, as well as laying along the Boston Harborwalk, itself a beautiful way to see metro Boston.
